GREEN BAY, Wis. (WFRV) - Uncle Mike's Bake Shoppe on East Mason Street is seeking answers after its beloved turtle statue was vandalized overnight.
On Friday morning, the beloved northeast Wisconsin bakery posted an image of the turtle flipped over with the head missing.
"Our poor turtle at our East Mason location has been seriously damaged," the post said. "It looks like someone tried to take it but couldn’t quite handle the weight (guess they skipped arm day.)"
Owner Mary Vande Walle expressed visible frustration, calling the act senseless and unnecessary.
"It's senseless," Vande Walle said. "I don't see the fun in destroying someone's property."
It's also not the first time the over 100+ pound statue has been destroyed, and replacing it is a time-consuming and high-effort process.
