NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) - Derrick Groves, one of the 10 inmates who escaped from the Orleans Parish Justice Center earlier this year, has been returned to Louisiana, according to Louisiana State Police.

Authorities confirmed Groves’ return in a post on Friday (Oct. 10) on X, formerly known as Twitter, stating, “All 10 Orleans Parish escapees are back in Louisiana.” The announcement came just minutes after law enforcement released several photos of Groves being escorted off a jet and loaded onto a Louisiana State Police helicopter.

Groves was apprehended in Atlanta and transported to Baton Rouge by a coalition of law enforcement agencies, including the Louisiana State Police Air Support Unit, the Violent Crime Apprehension and Investigation Team (VCAIT), the FBI, and the U.S. Marshals Service.
