It's not quite the Nickelodeon Super Toy Run, but starting this fall, Lake County residents have a chance to go through a guided tour of a grocery store, with a guaranteed prize waiting at the end.
This guided grocery store tour, Shop for Health, is one of the newest initiatives from Purdue Extension Lake County's nutrition team.
At their open house earlier this week, the nutrition educators, Amy Moore and Kaitlin Syler, showed off some of their programs and tools, including a bike that kids can pedal to power a smoothie machine.
The grocery store initiative, during which Syler takes guests around Food-4-Less in Hammond, is designed to help those facing budget constraints or food insecurity learn to improve their food shopping habits.
