MARYVILLE, Tenn. — At a total of 1,600 pounds, 8-feet-tall and 5-feet-wide, the new sculpture at the trailhead of the Maryville-Alcoa Greenway in Alcoa is hard to miss.

The structure, called 'Cathedral,' is orange when the sun hits it, and has been brought to town by an arts program that spans across East Tennessee.

Alcoa is now part of the Art in Public Places program with Dogwood Arts. Since its inception in 2007, the program has brought hundreds of murals and statues to Knox, Blount and Anderson counties. Three sculptures were placed along the Greenway in Maryville last summer to kick off the program in Blount County.
