ATLANTA — Operations at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport are returning to normal after the FAA tower had to be evacuated Friday evening.
According to the Federal Aviation Administration, the tower was evacuated due to a strong gas smell.
Atlanta airport officials also confirmed the reports, adding that a ground stop was put in place. A spokesperson for the city's department of aviation said Atlanta Fire Rescue crews responded to the scene to investigate.
Operations are now back to normal, and the ground stop has been lifted. Controllers also returned to their offices, airport officials said.
