(KRON) — Officers found and rescued a kitten abandoned in the Caldecott Tunnel while investigating a shooting on the eastbound side Highway 24 in Oakland Thursday, the California Highway Patrol told KRON4.
Officers responded to the scene of the crime after 3:45 p.m. and found the kitten stranded in the busy highway tunnel. The kitten was quickly adopted by relatives of a CHP officer.
“Everybody’s having a good day, especially this freeway feline,” CHP shared on social media. “Officers assigned to the Oakland Area Office recovered a cat in the Caldecott Tunnel and secured a new home for our furry friend.”
Thursday’s shooting allegedly involved two cars firing at each other. Both cars were hit by bullets, CHP said. There are no known injuries in connection to the shooting. A suspect was d
