WOOD COUNTY, Ohio — Part of state Route 795 in Perrysburg Township reopened late Friday night after a garbage truck hit internet cables and downed them across the roadway.

According to the Ohio State Highway Patrol, the truck, being driven by a 40-year-old from Toledo, was heading east on the state route around 3:30 p.m. with its rear receptacle up, which hit the fiber optic cables at the Oregon Road intersection.

The lines fell, covering the eastbound and westbound lanes of the highway. OSHP estimated the closure would last five hours.

Spectrum, which owns the cables, and Ohio Department of Transportation crews were at the scene.
