TIFFIN, Ohio — As temperatures begin to drop, a group of seniors in Tiffin is working to bring warmth to others one quilt at a time.
At the Allen Eiry Center, a team of six to 12 seniors gathers each morning to sew quilts for local charitable causes. In the past two years, they’ve donated over 100 quilts to those in need.
“I like putting the colors together. I like making things, and I don’t need that many quilts, so it’s nice to give them to somebody who does need them,” said quilting instructor Sara Welly, who leads the weekly class.
Welly said it usually takes a couple of days to finish each quilt, which can be valued at $100 or more.
