KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) - Less than a month after they moved into their new apartment, a Kansas City family awoke to gunshots that were fired into the room of their two sleeping children.

Jackson County, Missouri, Circuit Court records filed on Thursday, Oct. 9, indicate that Douglas Pinegar, 63, of Kansas City, has been charged in connection with the incident.

A probable cause statement filed by the Kansas City Police Department revealed that around 9:30 p.m. on Wednesday, law enforcement officials were called to an apartment with reports of gunfire.

When first responders arrived, they said they found a man who reported he and his wife were sleeping when he heard several gunshots go off.
