IBERVILLE PARISH, La. (WAFB) - Flags fly at half-staff across Iberville Parish this week as the community honors two deputies shot Monday night, with neighbors showing support for the Department and victims’ families.
Deputy Charles Riley was killed in the shooting, while Captain Brett Stassi Jr., the Sheriff’s son, remains hospitalized and recovering from his injuries.
A blood drive was organized through Our Lady of the Lake, where Captain Stassi is staying, to help offset his medical expenses, with each donation valued at $30. The response has been overwhelming, according to donors who don’t know the victims personally but wanted to help.
