CHARLESTON, W.Va. –The state’s Public Service Commission have scheduled two public comment hearings and an evidentiary hearing for the increase sought by Black Diamond Power CO.
The Charleston-based company filed the request on August 1 and is seeking a 6.97% increase. The company buys their power from Appalachian Power Co. and then resells it to 4,886 customers primarily in Clay, Wyoming and Raleigh counties.
If the increase is approved, it would increase the average monthly residential bill by $11.12; that number is based off of the usage of 834 kilowatt hours. The company would want the new rates to go into effect on December 1 if approved.
The first public comment hearing is set for October 14th at the Clay County Circuit Courtroom, and the second hearing is set for October 21st at
