SPARTANBURG COUNTY, S.C. (WSPA) - Voters in Spartanburg County District 12 have a chance to vote in a special election to fill an open seat in the Senate.
Senator Roger Nutt resigned from his position one year into his four-year term after being diagnosed with Alzheimer's, leaving a vacant seat.
Candidates running for the position are Hope Blackley, former Spartanburg County Clerk of Court; Justin Bradley, former Spartanburg County Council member; and Lee Bright, former state senator for District 12.
Early voting is open from October 6 to October 17, and the primary election is October 21.
John Baucom, Director of Spartanburg County Registration and Elections, said a runoff election can be held if needed.
