ATHENS, Texas (KETK) -- Meet 24-year-old Candy Simeon, the youngest candidate to run for Justice of the Peace in Henderson County. A trailblazer in her hometown, she hopes to educate her generation about the justice system and increase voter turnout.

Simeon is running for Precinct 1 Justice of the Peace, which handles Class C misdemeanors, the lowest level of criminal offense punishable by a fine not exceeding $500. Simeon is hoping this role will allow her to educate the Athens community on how the justice system works.

She tells KETK News, "The courtroom can be a pretty intimidating place, and I want everybody to understand the justice system. If somebody does not understand something, I want to be that judge to help them understand the government system."
