SIOUX CITY, Iowa (KCAU) — Sioux City firefighters who gave the ultimate sacrifice—giving their lives to protect others—were honored on Friday.

Sioux City Fire Rescue held their annual Fallen Firefighters Ceremony to remember the lives that were lost in the line of duty.

Community members, families, and firefighters gathered at City Hall for the ceremony, which had wreaths brought forth to memorialize the firefighters who lost their lives.

Since 1884, 12 firefighters have died while protecting Sioux City and its citizens. Their names are listed below, along with the year they passed: • Lawrence Shanley, 1884 • William T.J.
