TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV) - Local law enforcement and advocates joined forces to speak against domestic violence on Friday.
They gathered at Cascades Park with the goal of helping survivors and holding abusers accountable.
Local law enforcement also unveiled a vehicle with a hotline help number that will be driven throughout October, Domestic Violence Awareness Month.
Several people spoke at Friday’s event, including Christy Berterra, a survivor who shares how domestic violence affected her family.
“It’s really important for me to be able to continue to tell Brittnay’s story, our family’s story, so that the legacy lives and people are informed,” Berterra said. “It gives a human face to the stats that are spouted all the time, and I think that’s really important that we maintain knowing
