EDGECOMB -- The Maine Warden Service is highlighting the efforts of two of its own, who located a 91-year-old man in the woods near his home as freezing temperatures were starting to set in.

According to Department of Inland Fisheries and Wildlife Spokesperson Mark Latti, 91-year-old Valmar Thompson of Edgecomb lives alone at his home but has caregivers there during the day. Yesterday, when his caregiver arrived at 10 a.m., Thompson was not there. The caregiver grew concerned and called the Lincoln County Sheriff's Office.

Game wardens, sheriff’s deputies, and the Edgecomb Fire Department searched the area. At approximately 5:40 p.m., Game Warden Chad Robertson and K-9 Storm located Thompson in the woods. They say he was disoriented and sitting on a stone wall with one shoe missing.
