ATLANTA, Ga. (Atlanta News First) - A strong gas smell caused a ground stop at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport on Friday, according to the FAA.
The ground stop was issued just before 5:30 p.m. and lifted shortly before 6 p.m.
The alert from the FAA did not say what caused the strong gas smell.
The air traffic control tower was evacuated. Atlanta fire officials said no gas was found in the tower.
