COLUMBIA — Columbia Public Schools will no longer use alternative methods of instruction, or AMI, when classes are canceled due to inclement weather, according to an email sent to families Friday evening.

The Columbia School Board will hear an update on the school calendar at its meeting Monday, and the district said in the email to families that the end to AMI is the biggest change.

The district is removing the requirement for AMI during snow days due to a state law that went into effect Aug. 28 , Senate Bill 68 , which reversed the law that required AMI in the first place.
