TYLER, Texas (KLTV) - Students from across East Texas had the opportunity to feel like a cowboy for a day at the Branding Hearts Rodeo.

“I was really waiting for this and I’m glad I get to do this. Like, I haven’t rode a horse since I was two, so I’m very glad about today,” said Jace Lacy, a Mabank student.

“You get on it, and you just have fun,” said Erick Villalobos, another Mabank student.

“When a kid who usually wears tennis shoes and comes to school with a cowboy hat and then gets on the bus and says ‘yeehaw’, that’s pretty exciting,” said Danica Edwards, a life skills teacher at Mabank.

Lacy has come to the rodeo every year he’s been in high school. Donning his cowboy hat, getting to ride the horses was a high priority, but not as much as getting to be with his friends.
