TUSCALOOSA COUNTY, Ala. ( WBRC ) - It’s still warm outside, but not for long with the winter months coming up soon enough.
That’s where Estelle Maye comes in. For the last six years, Maye has collected blankets for the homeless in Tuscaloosa County.
By her own estimate, Maye says she’s probably helped serve around 1,000 people who found themselves homeless.
The deadline for this year’s blanket drive is December 6. Maye says on that same day, they’ll set up a location where they’ll hand out blankets.
“We’re going to set up on a certain side of town give away blankets on that day to those who are in need, those who are walking by and those on the streets. Other items that are very essential like toiletries that we can also provide socks, gloves, mittens, things of that nature,” said Ma
