TUSCALOOSA, Ala. ( WBRC ) - Some major tree pruning is going on in Tuscaloosa in preparation for a new data center at the University of Alabama.
You may have seen it. The work is going on at the corner of University Boulevard East and the on-ramp to McFarland Boulevard. That’s just yards from DCH.
Alabama Power says once that corner is cleared, they’ll lay down lines that will connect with the new high-performance computer data center on the eastern edge of campus.
University leaders say the new data center will hold $25 million of ‘computer power.’
Construction is expected to be completed late 2026.
