A Haitian man was found guilty of raping a 15-year-old female at a Rockland hotel that was being used as a migrant shelter, according to Timothy J. Cruz, the Plymouth County District Attorney.
Cory B. Alvarez, who is 27, was sentenced to 10-12 years in state prison. The state recommended 15 to 18 years, Cruz said.
“Our commitment to seeing this case through was, most importantly, about seeking justice on behalf of the child victim,” Cruz said. “It was also about ensuring that both the victim, the defendant had their day in court. My thoughts remain with the child victim in this case, her father and her family. With sentencing today, I hope that this family can find some closure.”
