SHREVEPORT, La. — Shreveport police have charged a 15-year-old with illegal firearm possession following a fatal shooting Tuesday night at the A.B. Palmer Community Center.
Investigators said the incident began when Martaevion Loston, 19, fired a gun first. The 15-year-old then returned fire, killing Loston.
The juvenile's charge stems from the illegal possession of the weapon used in the encounter. Police are currently working with the Caddo Parish District Attorney's office to determine if additional charges will be filed against the teen, potentially related to the shooting itself.
Authorities said the investigation indicates the teen may have acted in self-defense after being fired upon by the 19-year-old.
