A YOUNG child has been flown to Westmead Children's Hospital after sustaining injuries due to an animal attack in the state's Central West.

Ambulance NSW paramedics arrived at the scene on Huntley Road, Huntley - just outside of Orange - at about 5pm on Friday, October 10.

Upon arrival, they treated a young boy who had been attacked by a dog.

The boy suffered facial injuries and was taken by Toll helicopter to Westmead Children's Hospital.
