CLEVELAND, Ohio (WOIO) - It happened again. Another ODOT worker hit by a distracted driver on Wednesday.

Sadly the number of crashes into ODOT workers, vehicles and their equipment this year has reached 88, surpassing last year’s total of 84. But we haven’t even experienced winter yet.

Matt Bruning is with ODOT, “We’ve been hit 88 times this year. That’s four more than all of last year and we’re in early October. So, we’re really concerned that the number is going to continue to go up and we don’t want to see that.”

ODOT employees are frustrated because they’re working to make our roads safer, and keep traffic moving, but they are always on guard because of distracted and aggressive drivers who work against them."
