DULUTH, Minn. (Northern News Now) - The Crosby fire has caused a part of the Superior Hiking Trail to close between Caribou Falls and Cramer Road.

Officials at the trail are working in coordination with the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources.

They said these closures are necessary to keep hikers safe near Manitou State Park.

“It doesn’t necessarily see some of the higher traffic as maybe some of the other locations on our trail,” said Superior Hiking Trail Stewardship Director Justin Otsea. “But we are still trying to take all the steps necessary to make sure people are informed and safe.”

On Friday morning, signage was put out on the trail access points leading to Caribou Falls and Manitou State Park. There are also reroutes on County Road 7 and 8.
