City officials are finally moving forward with a proposal by Uniland Development Co. to develop a $92 million campus for the Department of Public Works – nearly 18 months after Uniland said its site at Bailey Avenue and Clinton Street was selected as the location.
The city on Thursday afternoon filed formal plans with the Common Council to purchase 59.7 acres of land from Uniland just west of Bailey for $5 million, with an additional $200,000 allocated for closing costs.
It’s also asking the Council to approve a development and construction agreement with Uniland Construction Co. to build the new Campus and Resiliency Center complex on what is now vacant land, with multiple buildings spread across a long site that stretches from New Babcock Street to Bailey.
