MARTINSBURG, W.Va. — Seldom under head coach David Walker has Martinsburg felt like an underdog.
Yet that’s the role the Class AAAA No. 8 Bulldogs were playing up ahead of Friday’s matchup with top-ranked Morgantown at Cobourn Field at David M. Walker Stadium.
It sure worked for Walker’s team, which outscored the Mohigans 20-0 after halftime and never trailed in a 34-6 victory.
“It’s not very often that we’re the underdog and it’s not very often that we’re playing that role,” Walker said. “Our guys enjoyed that. Maybe they had a little chip on their shoulder. We’ll enjoy this night and then we have to get moving. We can’t get too complacent. That’s our big thing. We have to get better.”
With the result, Martinsburg improves to 5-2 with its fifth consecutive victory, while Morgantown fa
