A 21-year-old engineering student was allegedly raped in the Anandapur area by a boyfriend of the survivor’s classmate on 26 September.

Police have started an inquiry on the basis of a complaint lodged by the survivor with the Anandapur police station on Wednesday.

She has already undergone a medical test. The culprit has been absconding soon after the incident.

According to police sources, the girl, who is a resident of Jharkhand, along with her friend used to stay in a flat in Anandapur area. Both of them are students of an engineering college.

The incident occurred on 26 September, when she was also alone in the flat.

Initially, she was silent about the incident because the culprit used to threaten her of dire consequences if she divulged anything about the incident.
