SEATTLE -- The Detroit Tigers playoff run came to an end early Saturday morning in a 3-2, 15 inning loss to the Seattle Mariners in Game 5 of the ALDS.

Jorge Polanco hit the game winning RBI single of Tommy Kahnle with the bases loaded to end the Tigers season.

The win sends Seattle to the ALCS against the Toronto Blue Jays, while the Tigers enter the offseason.

Detroit ace Tarik Skubal pitched 6.0 innings, giving up one run and striking out 13, the most by a pitcher in a winner-take-all game in MLB history.

A 2-run homer by Kerry Carpenter, his second of the series, gave the Tigers a short lived 2-1 lead in the 6th.

Seattle struck in the 7th, to tie the game 2-2, before walking it off 6 innings later.
