The Detroit Tigers’ 2025 season came to a disappointing end as they fell to the Seattle Mariners in a wild 15-inning marathon at T-Mobile Park Friday night .

After making the American League Divisional Series and surviving an elimination game earlier this week, the Tigers went back to Seattle and found themselves one hit away multiple times, but couldn’t clinch the moment before the Mariners’ Jorge Polanco did so in the 15th to win 3-2.

The teams set a record for the longest winner-take-all game in MLB postseason history, surpassing the 2018 NL Wild Card decider between the Colorado Rockies and Chicago Cubs, which went 13 innings.
