A 70-year-old pedestrian is dead after being struck by a vehicle in the Junction-Wallace Emerson area on Friday afternoon.

Toronto Police said a white 2019 Ram cargo van was westbound on Lappin Ave. at 3:52 p.m. approaching Lansdowne Ave., south of Dupont Ave., while the female pedestrian was crossing Lansdowne from the south side of Lappin.

According to police, the van made a left turn to proceed southbound on Lansdowne and struck the pedestrian.

The driver of the van remained on the scene and the pedestrian was taken to hospital where she was pronounced dead.

The investigation is ongoing by members of Traffic Services.
