Columbia Mayor Barbara Buffaloe is proposing a student advisory council made up of representatives from local colleges amid downtown safety concerns.
On Friday, Buffaloe posted a Facebook Reel announcing her plans for the council, which will include representatives from the University of Missouri, Stephens College, Columbia College and Moberly Area Community College.
"I envision their focus would be on topics like safety, transportation, housing and workforce opportunities — all things that impact both our students and our city," Buffaloe said in the Facebook post. "I'll be working with the administrations and student-body governments of these institutions to figure out how to select members."
