Bhubaneswar: In a significant boost to the fisheries sector in Odisha, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday virtually laid the foundation for a state-of-the-art fish market at Pandara in Bhubaneswar.

The new market, set to come up over an area measuring acres, aims to address longstanding issues faced by traders and consumers at the existing wholesale fish market in Unit 4, which has struggled with infrastructure challenges for several years. ADVERTISEMENT

The project is part of the Pradhan Mantri Matsya Sampada Yojana (PMMSY) with an allocation of Rs 50 crore. The overall project cost is expected to be around Rs 60 to 80 crore.
