GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) — Beginning Oct. 18, visitors to downtown Grand Rapids can participate in the second annual Downtown GR Scarecrow Competition, where over 30 businesses will compete with unique Halloween decorations.
"Every business is challenged with creating a scarecrow that is captivating and energizing," Alex Benda, co-owner of Oh, Hello Co. Paper & Gifts and board member of the Hotel District Business Association, explained. "Last year, we had really, really creative entries."
With 34 entries this year, Benda looks forward to tourists and locals experiencing a free, family-friendly walking tour of Grand Rapids as they vote for their favorite scarecrows.
"They do spread the entire city," Benda said. "It's a wonderful reason to explore." • Grand Rapids shops downtown comp
