The Char Dham Yatra in Uttarakhand, which had to be repeatedly halted during the monsoon season due to heavy rainfall, floods and landslides, has now witnessed a significant resurgence in pilgrim footfalls. Despite ongoing challenges such as snowfall and unstable weather conditions, record-breaking number of devotees have been visiting the sacred shrines of Kedarnath and Badrinath.

According to official figures, Kedarnath has recorded over 16.56 lakh pilgrims so far this year, surpassing its previous high of 16.52 lakh set in 2024. Badrinath too welcomed over 14.53 lakh devotees, overtaking last year's total of 14.35 lakh pilgrims.

On October 8, a total of 19,731 pilgrims were reported to have visited the Char Dham shrines and Hemkund Sahib by 7 pm. These included 5,042 pilgrims at Badri
