Jeffrey Epstein met Sir Tony Blair in Downing Street while he was Prime Minister, newly unearthed documents show.

The notorious billionaire financier visited Blair at No 10 in May 2002, according to a memo from Matthew Rycroft, a senior civil servant.

According to the BBC, the meeting came after lobbying from Lord Mandelson, who referred to Epstein as “safe” in an email to Blair’s chief of staff Jonathan Powell.

The document was released by the National Archives after a Freedom of Information request.
