External affairs minister S Jaishankar met US ambassador-designate Sergio Gor in New Delhi on Saturday to discuss the growing India-US partnership and its strategic global significance.

The meeting comes as Gor begins his six-day visit to India following his confirmation by the US Senate.

Jaishankar shared details of the meeting on X, writing, “Pleased to meet Ambassador-designate Sergio Gor of the US today in New Delhi. Discussed the India-US relationship and its global significance. Wish him the best for his new responsibility.”

Gor is accompanied by Michael J. Rigas, the US deputy secretary for management and resources, during his October 9–14 visit, according to the US State Department. The discussions come at a crucial time as both nations work to strengthen cooperation in defence,
