Odisha is likely to experience heavy rainfall over the next two days, even as the southwest monsoon begins its retreating phase.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued warnings for several districts, predicting thunderstorms and moderate to heavy showers in parts of southern and coastal Odisha.
Yellow Warning for Southern Districts
On Saturday, the IMD placed Koraput, Kalahandi, and Rayagada districts under a yellow warning for heavy rainfall.
Other districts may also experience strong winds reaching speeds of 30 to 40 kmph, accompanied by lightning and thunder.
According to weather officials, the current spell of rainfall is linked to the retreating southwest monsoon and its shifting wind patterns.
