A burglar who faked his death to evade arrest was caught by a Delhi Police Crime Branch team in Gorakhpur, Uttar Pradesh, officials said on Saturday
The police identified the accused as Virender Vimal, 42, a resident of Delhi ’s Mungeshpur. Vimal was wanted in four FIRs registered at Bawana police station in 2020. These included night-time burglaries at industrial and residential premises, and possession of a stolen vehicle and an illegal firearm, the police said.
To dodge the non-bailable warrants (NBWs) issued in four criminal cases of house thefts and burglaries, Vimal allegedly submitted a forged Municipal Corporation of Delhi death certificate in court.
