BIDDEFORD, Maine (WM) - Maine State Police officials say a Biddeford man was arrested in connection with the death of an infant that happened last year.

Christopher Knapp, 36, was taken into custody at about 7 p.m. Tuesday on an arrest warrant for the charge of manslaughter.

On the morning of June 15, 2024, Biddeford firefighters and police officers were called to a home at 37 Emery St., where a baby was reported to be unresponsive.

The 5-week-old boy was taken to Southern Maine Hospital in Biddeford and later transferred to Maine Medical Center in Portland, where he died on June 20, 2024.

An autopsy was conducted a day after the infant’s death. The Chief Medical Examiner’s Office in Augusta ruled his death a homicide. Police said the cause of death is not being shared at this time.
