The Supreme Court will pronounce its orders on Monday, October 13, on a batch of petitions seeking an independent investigation into the Karur stampede incident.
A bench comprising Justice JK Maheshwari and Justice NV Anjaria reserved its order on Friday after hearing arguments from multiple petitioners, including Vijay's political party Tamizhaga Vetri Kazhagam (TVK), which has sought a probe under the supervision of a retired Supreme Court judge.
Other petitioners have requested that the investigation be handed over to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), expressing doubts over the impartiality of the ongoing inquiry by the Tamil Nadu Police.
The stampede, which occurred on September 27 during a rally by Vijay's party, claimed 41 lives.
