The Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension (BCA) has ordered law enforcement agencies across the state to inspect its DWI test devices following a series of apparent errors across multiple counties.
It's been reported this week that DWI test results in more than 200 cases are currently under review in at least 5 counties so far – Hennepin, Olmsted, Aitkin, Winona, and Chippewa, all of which relate to the use of DataMaster (DMT) instruments.
The BCA says the inspection order follows "the discovery of multiple data entry errors by trained operators during the installation of gas cylinders in the instrument."
