Police have been given extra powers to stop and search people in a large area of east Manchester and Stockport after violence broke out and a teenage boy was stabbed.
It happened in the Ryder Brow area of Gorton on Friday night (October 10).
Officers were called to Ryderbrow Road to 'reports of a group of males attacking others with machetes and knives', Greater Manchester Police (GMP) said.
There they found a 17-year-old boy with 'injuries consistent with a stabbing'. The same boy was arrested on suspicion of violent disorder, and is currently in custody for questioning.
