Vancouver voters will soon decide if they want to keep the status quo or shake things up when it comes to electing their city council representatives.

Currently, all six members of the Vancouver City Council, as well as the mayor, are elected on a citywide basis.

Under a proposed charter amendment on the November ballot, four councilors would be elected by geographic districts, while two councilors and the mayor would be elected citywide.

Supporters of the city’s Proposed Charter Amendment No. 13 say the vote-by-district system would lead to better representation for all Vancouver residents.
