Kasaragod : With few days left for the north-east monsoon to begin in the state, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted heavy rainfall accompanied by thunder and lightning across several parts of the state till October 15.

The weather department has forecasted normal to heavy rains in the state and the neighbouring state of Tamil Nadu from Mid October till November.

In a revised forecast, the IMD has issued an orange alert for Idukki, Kannur, and Kasaragod, and a yellow alert for Pathanamthitta, Palakkad, Malappuram, Kozhikode, and Wayanad. Rainfall ranging from 64.5 mm to 115.5 mm is expected in these districts within 24 hours.

“Thunderstorms accompanied by lightning are very likely to occur at one or two places over Kerala and Lakshadweep from October 10 to 15, 2025.
