CHICAGO (WLS) -- A man who was shot by a Chicago police officer on the South Side on Thursday afternoon is now facing charges, CPD said on Saturday.
Police initially said on Thursday that officers responded to the Roseland neighborhood's 100-block of West 111th Place around 1:45 p.m. to stop a suspect linked to a string of robberies.

The suspect fled on foot, and officers saw he had a gun, police said Thursday. Chopper 7 was over the scene.
Police said the suspect, 35-year-old McKale Mitchell, assaulted two CPD officers.
CPD said Mitchell disregarded officers' instructions to drop the gun. That's when one of the officers shot Mitchell in the leg.
