LELAND, Miss. (WLBT) - Mayor John Lee of Leland confirmed that there was a mass shooting Friday night.

According to the mayor, the incident was not at the school, but on the main street.

Sixteen people were confirmed to have been shot.

Four of those died from injuries.

The twelve others are being treated at a hospital.

As of right now, the identities of the victims have not been announced.

No arrests or suspects have been announced.

The Department of Public Safety spokeswoman Bailey Martin confirmed that the Mississippi Bureau of Investigation is assisting in the investigation.
