In a rare sighting today, a 4-foot-long cobra was spotted near the left spillway of Hirakud Dam, emerging from the dam office premises. The sudden appearance of the snake frightened the employees present, but none of them attempted to harm it.

Demonstrating caution and presence of mind, the dam staff used a wooden stick to guide the snake safely out of the office area. The cobra, despite hissing and raising its hood, did not attempt to attack or bite anyone.

After carefully handling the situation, the employees released the snake outside the premises, ensuring the safety of both the staff and the snake. Officials highlighted that such incidents, while uncommon, require calm and careful handling to avoid harm to humans and wildlife alike.
