SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO) - Governor Larry Rhoden announced on Saturday that he personally donated funds to light up Mount Rushmore amidst the government shutdown.

"Even when Washington shuts down, American freedom will keep shining bright right here in South Dakota,” said Rhoden in a press release.

According to the press release, the funds will illuminate the Mount Rushmore monument for the next week. If the shutdown continues, the following individuals will foot the bill to keep the lights on: • Days 8-10: Marilyn Oakes, in memory of her late husband Arthur Oakes; • Day 11: Representative Mike Derby; • Day 12: Majority Leader Scott Odenbach; • Day 13: Senator Helene Duhamel; • Day 14: Representative Steve Duffy; • Day 15: Senator Randy Deibert; • Day 16: Representative Mar
